WICHITA – Andover and Andover Central get a prime stage to play on starting today, as the WATC Basketball Challenge takes place at Charles Koch Arena.
According to an announcement from organizers of the tournament and the Andover School District, the annual event matches teams from the Greater Wichita Athletic League against teams from the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League. The pairings of the teams are based in part, on the win-loss records of the participants.
“It’s not a tournament.” the USD 385 District Office said this week on their website. “It’s a chance for 36 boys and girls teams from 18 high schools to showcase their talents and school pride under the bright lights of Charles Koch Arena. It’s also one of the best opportunities in Kansas for fans and college recruiters to see top-level high school basketball in Kansas over a three-day period.”
The teams will match up on the following schedule:
Andover Lady Trojans will play West on Jan. 15 at 11:45 a.m.
Andover Trojans will play Northwest on Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
Andover Central Jaguars will play Bishop Carroll on Jan. 15 at 5 p.m.
Andover Central Lady Jaguars will play South on Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m.
