The City of Andover is also inviting residents to stop by the new Street Shop (1606 N Andover Road) this afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to view the new building. The Open House is come-and-go. Light refreshments will be provided. No RSVP necessary.
The construction costs are estimated to be some $2.8 Million, while extra expenditures such as furniture and administrative fees will push the total cost of the project to around $3.2 Million. City Administrator Mark Detter told AndoverLeader.Com last September that the city believes the current street shop is inadequate, forcing much of the equipment to be parked outside, thus shortening it’s usable life.
The cost of the project is being funded by the proceeds of a sales tax increase that went into effect in Andover earlier this year. In addition to the street shop, that project has also funded a public restroom at Central Park, and a new ladder truck for the Andover Fire-Rescue Department.
