Don’s life began on October 16, 1924 in Winfield, KS. He is the son of Blake and Erma (Miller) Wilson. He is a graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in chemical engineering. Don was united in marriage to Dorlene Juanita Jones on December 9, 1944 in Winfield, KS. He stared his career with the Standard Oil Company and later Mobil Oil where he retired from in 1985. Don served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was active in several organizations including being past president of the Gravois Mills, MO Lions Club, and past president of the Laurie, MO Senior Center. Don loved to travel, hunt quail, garden and was very active in his church. He helped construct the Gravois Mills, MO. United Methodist Church where he was a devoted member for 35 years.
His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Donna (Paul) Dountas of Saddlebrooke, MO, and Bronna (Mark) Oltersdorf of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren Jen (Mark) Mills, Dave Oltersdorf, Andy (Nicky) Dountas and Chris Dountas; four great grandchildren and his sister Connie Wilson. Don passed away on April 27, 2017 in Fort Collins. He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita, brother Bob Wilson and his parents. His family will gather with friends on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, El Dorado for his funeral service. He will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, El Dorado.
