Jo Elaine Lindsey
Of El Dorado
Jo’s life began on February 6, 1943 in Blair, Nebraska. She is the daughter of Herbert and Iva Jean (Hightree) Unger. Jo is a graduate of El Dorado High School and Wichita Business College. She was united in marriage to Darell Lindsey on July 13, 1963 in El Dorado. Jo worked for the El Dorado refinery for 40 years as the secretary to the plant manager. She was active in Soroptimist and Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she served as president in both organizations. Jo was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed bird watching, travelling with Darell, gardening and was a budding golfer.
Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Darell of El Dorado, children Troy (Kathy) Lindsey of Hoover, AL and Angie Zeorlin of Wichita; her grandchildren Brendan and Megan Lindsey, Alex and Sean Zeorlin; her brother in laws and sister in laws Marcia (Dave) Greene of El Dorado and Brenda (Dennis) Yarnall of Leon and several nieces and nephews. Jo passed away at her home on May 1, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Randy and Doug Unger and son in law Jim Zeorlin.
Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday May 9th at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church for her memorial service. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Jo’s name may be directed to Harry Hynes Hospice or the Family Life Center Safe House.
