ANDOVER – City officials are happy with the results of Saturday night’s Concert In The Park, which featured the stylings of country superstars Clint Black and John Michael Montgomery. Both artists sang familiar favorites, which topped the charts during their heyday in the 1990’s and early 2000’s.
While he didn’t have exact numbers, City Administrator Mark Detter estimated Sunday that between 11,000 and 12,000 were in attendance at Central Park on Saturday night. While the city had sold just over 6,700 tickets on Friday, officials had projected a sharp increase from same day sales.
In addition to the ticket sales, the concert provided a steady stream of income for some other causes. The Andover Rotary Club was one of the groups taking part in facilitating beverage sales for the evening, with proceeds split between the city and the club’s community efforts.
The City turned shovels during the event on the new amphitheater project, which will provide a solid venue for events similar to the Concert In The Park upon its completion.
