WICHITA – Three Wichita State baseball student-athletes have earned all-Valley Scholar-Athlete accolades in 2017. Senior Reagan Biechler was named to the first team, while senior Willie Schwanke and sophomore Connor Lungwitz were named honorable mention.
Biechler, a senior left-handed pitcher from Colorado Springs, Colo., has a 3.57 GPA in general studies biology, Schwanke, a senior designated hitter from Frisco, Texas, has a 3.43 GPA in sport management and Lungwitz, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Wichita, Kan., has a 3.54 GPA in general business.
The criteria for the Valley’s Scholar-Athlete Team parallels the CoSIDA standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average. Also, students must have participated in at least 75 percent of the regular season, reached sophomore academic and athletic standing at their institution.
