BUHLER — Try as the might Andover Central just wasn’t enough to take on Buhler Friday. The Jaguars fell 37-7 to go 0-2 on the season so far.
Trouble started early in the first. Buhler had a 48-yard run to put themselves at the Central 3-yard line with 10:19 in the first. The Trojans were able to hang on forcing the Crusaders back. However, eventually Buhler found the end zone on a 7-yard pass. The PAT was good for a 7-0 lead.
The Jaguars were able to stall Buhler’s next scoring drive confining them to only a field goal for a 10-0 lead. A couple plays later a block in the back erased a potential interception by Buhler, but Central could not get the drive working down the field enough to score and ended the first quarter trailing 10-0.
In the second quarter Buhler scored quickly for a 17-0 advantage with 9:05 left in the quarter. An interception would set up their next touchdown for a 23-0 lead. With the first half coming to a close, the Crusaders found the end zone again for a 30-0 lead going into halftime.
The Jaguars were able to hold off Buhler’s drives in the second, but they still had a scoring drought going into the fourth quarter. A 43-yard touchdown catch was the only Buhler score in the third for a 37-0 lead.
With 4:09 left to play in the fourth, Central rushed for their first touchdown of the night. The PAT was good for a 37-7 score. There is where the game would stay for a Buhler win.
