Irene’s life began on August 9, 1921, the daughter of Charlie and Nellie (Angleton) Davis in Burns, Kansas. She attended Potwin schools graduated from El Dorado High School Class. On December 25, 1940 she married Dale R. McKinzie in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Irene was a homemaker and sold Avon. She enjoyed traveling and tending to her yard and home. She was an avid card player and loved fishing and bowling. Irene was a loyal friend carrying those friends in her heart until the end. Irene lived to see her grandson cut his hair, from long to short and to marry, and her granddaughter marry and become a mother of three. Irene made sure her home was always filled with joy and laughter.
Her loving family includes her daughter and her husband, Janice and Jerry Smith of El Dorado; grandson and his wife, Doug and Dee Smith of Wichita; granddaughter and her husband, Shelly and Todd Conine of El Dorado; three great-grandchildren, Sierra, Zac and Travis Conine
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; stillborn daughter, Judith; brother, Harold Davis; sisters, Lois Pierce and Blanche Ball. Irene passed away, Saturday, November 25, 2017, having reached the age of 96 years old. In Irene’s own words, “I was blessed with a wonderful husband and daughter, and loved by all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What else can a person ask for?”
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, with Chaplain Charles Klassen officiating.
