ANDOVER – On January 8, 2018, the Andover Board of Education approved the purchase of land for the new Meadowlark Elementary School. The new Meadowlark Elementary property is located at the southeast corner of 13th Street and 159th Street. This land purchase follows the passage of the 2017 Bond Issue on May 9 that included facility projects district-wide, including building a new Meadowlark Elementary on a new site.
“We are very pleased to have secured this land for the new Meadowlark Elementary. It is an ideal location that will serve the students and families of Meadowlark well,” said Brett White, Superintendent of Schools.
The new Meadowlark Elementary is scheduled to open in January 2020. There are no boundary changes for Meadowlark students.
“This is a major investment in the future of our students,” said Josh Wells, USD 385 Board of Education Vice President. “We are committed to maintaining the status of excellence our students, parents and the taxpayers of Andover Schools have come to expect. Throughout the bond process, we remain focused on delivering enhancements to our facilities that will result in long-term value for the district.”
The district purchased the 49.1 acres for $1.25 million for the new school and future district growth. The cost for the land is included in the $188 million approved bond projects.
