ANDOVER –Sunlight Children’s Advocacy and Rights Foundation (SCARF) was named Nonprofit of the Year by the Andover Area Chamber of Commerce. The award was given out at the Annual Dinner on February 15th at Crestview Country Club.
“We wish we did not have to provide the services that we do, but we are honored and humbled by the award,” said SCARF’s Executive Director Suzi Thien.
Sunlight Child Advocacy Center provides a place where alleged victims of child abuse come to be interviewed in a child-friendly, neutral environment by forensically trained professionals. The Center has served more than 1,465 children since opening 17 years ago.
Sunshine Children’s Home, which opened in October 2014, provides a place for children who have temporarily been removed from their home because of abuse and neglect. The home has served more than 1,500 children since opening.
