TOWANDA – Butler County EMS will be hosting a Bleeding Control Basics course at 316 Main Street, Towanda Ks. The course is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 6th and is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to identify life-threatening uncontrolled bleeding and stop it possibly saving a life. There is no cost, but seats are limited to the first 30. This is one of many Stop the Bleed courses available in Butler County this year.
On April 15, 2013, two homemade bombs detonated 12 seconds and 210 yards (190 m) apart at 2:49 p.m., near the finish line of the annual Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring several hundred others, including 16 who lost limbs.
The truth is you are more likely to encounter an uncontrolled bleeding incident at home, work or at a vehicle accident than from a terrorist event which makes this information even more valuable.
The Bleeding Control Basic (BCon) Course v. 1.0 is designed for individuals who have little or no medical training but who may be called upon as Immediate Responders to provide initial trauma care and bleeding control to a victim of traumatic injury prior to the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS).
