A Man fined £ 6,000 Breaking Lockdown Rules In Jersey
Gareth Le Monnier who is 37 years old traveled from his home to his see his wife in Jersey on the 3rd of July and supposed to stay there for 14 days.
Some hours before his isolation was going to end, he visited a toy shop and went for a £30 haircut at Tony & Guy, and a Waitrose cafe. He was caught when the Police Officers visited his House and he was not there. The Police Officers talked to his wife but his wife said that he must be asleep upstairs.
The Police Officers waited for him in his house as they retired from there trip into town. Gareth Le Monnier’s wife got out of the car but still, Monnier was waiting inside the car on the passenger seat.
Monnier’s wife said the officers that she was going to wake her husband at that time another officer spotted Monnier coming out from the car.
Judge Graeme McKerrell said that Monnier had to put his needs beside to fulfill other’s needs and added that it is not that if Monnier didn’t carry any symptoms, he could not carrying and disease.
He was ordered to pay a total sum of £6,000 as he was fined for breaking two rules £3,000 for each rule. He was also ordered to pay all the fine in full before he could be released from the Police custody.
