This is a great time for fantasy young adult literature like the ones in 2010s. When the fictional movie, Harry Potter gained massive success, the studios started developing all sorts of tween- focused literature on the silver screen which resulted in the creation of yet another sensational film like Twilight.
CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT made in 2009 is a vampire based movie which is based on a critically acclaimed young adult series. The movie is based on the story of a teenager named Darren and he encounters a secret world of vampires, a circle of “freaks” along with a tentative bruce between two warring factions.
The movie has amazing star cast where John C. Reilly is seen playing 200 year old vampire Larten Crepsley, which is a truly great role for someone who spent most of his career being the sidekick in the movies. His speech delivery is filled with a perfect balance of sarcasm and exposition.
You also get to see that actors like Willem Dafoe, Jane Krakowski, Kristen Schaal, Orlando Jones, Ken Watanabe and Salma Hayek. Though it might seem like the movie has so many great star cast but this is exactly what went wrong with the movie as too many big names got crammed into the film but they did not enough opportunity to shine on their own.
The story is mostly about the battle between Darren and Steve and the movie ends before the war truly began leaving the audience wanting more even though there was no other sequel made. Yet the movie is going to be a good fun to watch and is definitely an underrated film which you should totally watch on Netflix.
