Actor Dax Shepard has shown appreciation to fans that supported him after revealing he fell back into addiction and abused prescription pills. This, he revealed began after a motorcycle accident from which he developed an acute shoulder and was prescribed Vicodin for the pain, but then, he began to abuse it.
In his words on the episode 7, he revealed more, “So eight years into sobriety, I have not done a single shady thing. There was nothing gray,” he started on the episode. “I immediately called my sponsor and I said, ‘I am in a ton of pain and I got to work all day, and we have friends that have Vicodin to get through the day at work but you have to go to the doctor, and you have to get a prescription and you have to have Kristen (Bell) dole out the prescription,” he narrated further.
Although there was no initial issue with this plan, Dax soon found himself in trouble when he went on a trip to visit his father whose prescription was Dax’s responsibility.
“So I give him a bunch of percoret and then I go, I have a prescription for this, and I was in a motorcycle accident, and I’m gonna take some too,” Shepard recalled adding that he might have taken more than the initial prescription indicated.
He extended a warm heart of thanks to everyone who supported him through the process. This he did during his podcast, Armchair Expert: “Just quickly, I want to say thanks to all the people that have been so unbelievably lovely to us in response to ‘Day 7’.”
He goes further to say, “My fears were the opposite of what the result was but yes, I’m struggling with receiving some fraudulent feelings of love based on a f**k up. But, at any rate, I am really, really grateful and there’s so many beautiful, nice people.”
