Falcon And The Winter Soldier To Be A 6-Hour Long Movie, Says Anthony Mackie

“The way we were filming, it feels exactly like we were shooting a cut movie for the show.”

Celebrities Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan lead the cast of Marvel Studios’ first original show for the Disney + streaming platform. Although this will be a pioneering installment within the MCU television channel, the truth is that the way of working has not been very different from that of the franchise’s blockbuster films. Mackie put it this way recently, to the point of comparing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with a six-hour (fragmented) movie.

In an interview with Variety, the African-American historian (who has also worked on shows like Black Mirror ) confessed that the experience on the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been very alien to television dynamics and very close to the film field.

“We are shooting it exactly like a movie. Everyone who had worked on television before said, ‘I’ve never worked on a show like this,’ “he said. “The way we were filming feels exactly like we’re shooting a cut movie for the show. So instead of a two-hour movie, [we have] a six or eight-hour movie. ”

In March, the upcoming series had to pause its production due to the coronavirus pandemic. Days before, the cast and crew had moved to the Czech Republic, anticipating three weeks of filming. In this regard, Anthony Mackie confessed that this crisis made him see how the House of Ideas is not as almighty as he believed.

“We were in Europe, and everything went crazy. So we were suspended two weeks before the closing in the US, “he told Variety. “It was really amazing because I feel like we are the first Marvel movie or show with budget constraints. And my experience was always: ‘It’s Marvel, we could film forever.’ And they said, ‘No.’ So it was a very different experience from the rest of the movies. However, at the same time, it was a lot of fun.

The movies are the same as summer camp. And this show was no different. We were the same association of people, coming unitedly to make it work, along with the stunt doubles. Everything is on another level. Every series, every movie, they just push her, they push her to the limit. Confidently, I knock on wood, we’ll be back soon.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is yet slated to premiere in August 2020, via Disney +.
