This month, a 9-year-old girl from Florida succumbed to coronavirus. She has become the state’s youngest person to die of COVID-19.
The girl named Kimora “Kimmie” Lynum died while sleeping in her bed at her Gainesville home on the night of July 17.
Her cousin Dejeon Cain described her as a “happy child” who did not get to live her life.
The girl’s family revealed that she did not have any underlying health conditions.
“She was doing good at one point, and all of a sudden she had a situation with a fever,” Cain said.
When the girl developed a high fever, the mother took her to the hospital where she was sent back home. Later, she fainted and heart failure led to her death.
The family claims that the girl did not go anywhere this summer and had not come in contact with anyone who is known to have the virus. Local health officials confirmed that she did not have any travel history.
The girl’s father was shot and killed in April, revealed Cain.
“We just buried him and now we’re burying her. The family is troubled,” he stated.
Cain further said in a statement that even after father’s death she remained a “joyous” child who had grace on her.
Florida’s confirmed coronavirus cases are 433K so far and the death count is 5,930.
