Godzilla has been quite an important character in Japanese cinema since the 1950s. Since then it has become a global phenomenon that has just gotten larger and more frightening. In Japan’s Awaji Island, a life sized Godzilla statue has been in the making for a while now. This attraction is now completed.
It is 180 feet long with a height of 75 feet and a width of 82 feet. The monster looks like it is crouching down and visitors to the attraction can zip line right into its wide-open mouth. There are already videos up online for those who are interested to check out.
The new video on YouTube reveals just how huge the attraction is. Viewers can appreciate Godzilla from all the different angles and look right down its throat and the hundreds of teeth in its mouth. Once visitors enter, it lights up a bright purple. Visitors can also visit the museum which has a complete record of the long history of the monster and there are arcade games to enjoy as well.
The Godzilla is supposedly true to life, which means the original size of the monster at 164 feet, not the 400 feet that 2014’s Godzilla inflated it to. The experience of viewing it must be heightened by the zip line, 400 feet off the ground. This is half the size of La Tyrolienne in France, 820 feet off the ground and the highest zip line in the world.
The Godzilla attraction, of course, comes with signature theme dishes. In this case, they are a Godzilla Curry and a Godzilla ice cream puff with strawberries for visitors to enjoy.
The attraction was supposed to open by summer but has been delayed due to the pandemic. The Grand opening was thus in October. Visitors who wish to zip line into the mouth of the monster have to pay $36 for anyone above 12 and $20 for children between 5 and 12. The ride is allegedly free for children below 5 but the zip line must have a height requirement that has not been specified.
The crossover film, Godzilla vs. Kong, is set to hit theatres in May 2021 where fans may watch the two gigantic beasts fight it out.
