Legendary music producer Phil Spector who had been serving 19 years to life in prison for committing the second-degree murder of struggling actress Lana Clarkson in 2003, died in a hospital on Saturday, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
An autopsy is likely to determine the official cause of Spector’s death but the department has informed for now that he died from natural causes. However, his daughter, Nicole Audrey Spector believes that her father died of complications from COVID-19.
She told the New York Times that her father had been moved to the San Joaquin General Hospital because of failing health on December 31 from the California Health Care Facility while he was aged 81.
