On Friday, The Police recovered a body from the River Caldew in the Blackwell Hall area, at around 5:30 a.m, and identified the body of Lee McKnight who was 26 years old.
Cumbria Police said in a statement that the victim’s family is being supported by specialist officers. The Police have arrested a man aged around 25 years old and four women aged as 25 years old, 40 years old, 46 years old, and 47 years old on suspicion of the murder and remain in custody.
Detectives are finding a black Nissan Navara pick-up truck that seemed to be involved in the murder case.
Assistant Chief Constable Andrew Slattery said in a statement that they are requesting the local Public to help the Police as part of their murder investigation into the death of Lee McKnight.
He added with his statement that an investigation has been launched, with a major investigation team that will be led by Detective Superintendent David Stalker at Durranhill police station.
He said that anyone who saw anything that could relate to the murder in the Blackwell Hall area during the time of his murder should make contact with the investigation team to help the police in finding the culprit.
Anyone with information or have any CCTV recording footage of the Nissan vehicle or Lee’s movement in the Blackwell Hall area in the early hours of the 24th of July, please inform the investigation team.
