NYC and Long Island is facing second surge of COVID-19

The second wave of Corona Virus in NYC and Long Island has lessened the available beds in hospitals. The percentage of available beds in both the places is under 20 percent. According to the accurate data, 81 percent of hospitals are filled and 19 percent are available.

Situation is similar in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Emergency beds are occupied with large percent and only 25 percent empty. The state-wide COVID-19 infection rate is 5.7 percent. While in the spring season NYC was the epicentre of the virus but with time other cities are also grappling the killer virus.

The state Health Department reported that the number of hospitalized patients has a large increase in number by 233 on Monday to 4,835. A jump of 34 was counted on Monday for an emergency in ICU. The department released that 74 people died on Monday, which can probably get increased in upcoming days. “The good news is NY still maintains one of the nation’s lowest infection rates, but everyone must do their part to slow the spread of the virus and stop the uptick in hospitalizations.”

The Governor has ordered lockdown of business and indoor dining in the pandemic and COVID-19 hotspots.
