As the summer temperature is increasing in the city, the government has decided and given permission to reopen the outdoor swimming pools across the state.
It was announced on Thursday by Gov. Cuomo that the public outdoor pools will be open for the holiday weekend to give the public a sense of relief from the scorching heat of the sun.
Though, the cases of coronavirus are still in the state this action can result in major casualties for all of the people. Taking this in concern Cuomo has also urged people to follow required the public health guidelines.
Cuomo said “The virus does not take a holiday, and so I urge New Yorkers who are visiting swimming pools to follow all the social distancing guidelines in effect to protect themselves and each other.
When you are not in a pool, wear a mask if you can’t socially distance. The bottom line is to be vigilant and stays safe while enjoying some time outside.”
The governor also highlighted a few precautions that must be taken by the authorities, that is, reducing the pool capacity to 50%, using masks, and maintaining 6 feet of social distancing between everyone.
The state police and pool staff are urged to make these guidelines mandatory and keep a check at everything. The staff is also directed to disinfect bathrooms, showers, and other common areas.
Cuomo added “Pool capacity will be reduced and is expected to fill quickly. New Yorkers are urged to plan ahead by having alternate destination ready.”
