‘Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief’ was the first film to be adapted by 20th Century Fox from the literary saga created by Rick Riordan. Then came ‘Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters’.
Both expected adaptations would pass without penalty or glory financially speaking because although they were well received by the public, the box office of this attempt of ‘Harry Potter’ barely made about 200 million each.
Recalling those feature films the fandom this weekend, the author of the books joined the criticism and has once again insisted on how disappointed he continues with the adaptations to the big screen, which he still does not even give them the opportunity to reproduce.
I judge them from reading the scripts because the thing that worries me the most is the story. I certainly have nothing against talented actors. It’s not their fault. I am sorry they were dragged into the disaster, ” Riordan wrote on Twitter this weekend.
In fact, it is not the first time that the author of the books points out that he is not at all happy with the adaptation, because at the time the writer already denounced that they had put aside their stories and objections.
In fact, in the same thread he made this frustration clear, noting that although for some films are not so bad, in his opinion he has seen “the work of his life go through a meat grinder”:
“For you, it is a couple of hours of entertainment. For me, it is the job of my life passed by a meat grinder when I begged you not to do it. Then yes. But it is fine. Everything is fine. Let’s fix it soon.”
Because we recently pointed out that the adventures of young Jackson will once again return to the screen in the form of a series from Disney + and it seems that he has the full support of the writer.
