Though no exact release date has been determined, Universal/HBO plans to release Evil Dead Rise in the United States in 2022. The reboot’s filming in New Zealand was officially finished on October 25th.
Lee Cronin announced the film’s completion on Twitter, saying he was on his way home to “cut this thing together.” The film is currently in post-production, and it is hoped that the exciting, supernatural remake will be released immediately in summer 2022.
The premise for the film has been revealed jointly by Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and HBO Max, in which a lady named Beth travels to visit her sister Ellie, who lives in a small, tiny apartment in Los Angeles with her three kids.
When a weird book is discovered similarly to the original narrative, demons arise, and Beth is forced to battle for her life in what they term “the most hellish form of motherhood possible.”
Cronin refers to the film ironically as a “heartwarming and touching family drama” on Twitter, beside a shot of a blood-splattered countertop captioned “Damn kids never clean kitchen.”
This suggestion, along with Cronin’s previous film dealing with wicked children, makes one question who of the family members in LA will be possessed in Evil Dead Rise.
Ellie’s mother, Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), will be played by Alyssa Sutherland, while her sister Beth will be played by Lily Sullivan (Mental). Mia Challis (User Not Found) is also mentioned to play a character named Jessica.
At the same time, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher are slated to play characters whose names have yet to be revealed.
Universal will direct the picture to HBO Max in the United States, while it will be distributed in cinemas in the United Kingdom and France. Do not forget to watch it if you are a fan as well.
