Student Suspected Of Double Murder And Kidnapping Asked For Gun Control On Instagram

Peter Manfredonia, a student at the University of Connecticut, is on the run and is suspected of killing two men, injuring another and kidnapping a woman, then fleeing in a stolen car, over the long weekend.

Yesterday, a 23-year-old woman who said she was abducted by the suspected college student was found healthy in New Jersey, police said.

The unidentified woman told police that Manfredonia took her out of the Derby, Connecticut, residence against her will, using her vehicle to escape after killing her boyfriend, Nicholas Eisele, a friend of the fugitive.

Manfredonia is suspected to have started his killing spree Friday morning in an attack on a dirt road in Willington (CT) that left Ted DeMers (62) dead and another man seriously injured, state police said.

DeMers’ wife Cynthia DeMers told the Hartford Courant newspaper that her husband and an elderly neighbor were attacked after taking Manfredonia to her motorcycle that was parked on the road.

Police said Manfredonia was seen running away from that crime scene on the motorcycle.

Later Friday, the suspect allegedly broke into a house in Willington and stole three shotguns, a pistol, and a truck from a man who lived there.

The stolen truck was found around 6:45 am on Sunday, crashed near Osbornedale State Park in Derby.

It is suspected that Manfredonia then went to the house of his friend Eisele (23). He allegedly killed him and kidnapped his girlfriend, fleeing in his 2016 black Volkswagen Jetta car.

Authorities later found that car in New Jersey, on the Pennsylvania border. Eisele’s girlfriend was also found unharmed, according to the report.

Manfredonia then crossed the border into Pennsylvania. He has not yet been detained.

In the past, Manfredonia has used his Instagram account to speak against gun violence, said New York Post.

In a February 2018 publication, Manfredonia wrote that the school shootings “are an epidemic that affects this great country in which we live. It is sad to think that any child should feel insecure in a school. ”

Manfredonia is a student of the joint School of Engineering / MEM Business School (Engineering and Management Administration) program, University of Connecticut spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said. He does not attend summer courses and had not been living on campus, he added.
