If we classify “Tenet” as a spy thriller then that would be a clear injustice done with the film. Most probably, Nolan is trying to break new grounds in the spy genre in the same way he completely re-imagined the superhero genre when he made “Dark Knight”. It was completely different from all other superhero movies.

The film has an unnamed protagonist, a CIA agent who gets recruited into a secret organization to carry out a mission of saving world from complete obliteration.

There is a Russian oligarch named Sator hell-bent on acquiring all nine parts of an algorithm and ending this world. Sator’s wife Kat and Protagonist’s handler Neil help the protagonist in his mission of stopping Sator.

NEW TENET TRAILER MAY HAVE REVEALED THE MOVIE’S HUGE TIME TRAVEL TWIST

When we look at the plot as a script then it seems real simple and straight out of a John Grisham novel. But “Tenet” is anything but simple. If you want to understand the movie completely which is nearly impossible you need to grasp the centre of the film which allows objects including humans, to move backward in the time.

If you have watched Interstellar, Inception, and Memento then understanding “Tenet” would be a bit easy for you. Because Nolan is never easy to understand in a first go. Plus, it also depends upon what kind of viewer you are and what do you expect from a Christopher Nolan film.
