On Friday, some of the Grand Old Party Governors have decided to impose moderation measures and policies due to an increasing number of coronavirus cases. The Governors of Florida and Texas had ordered the bars to shut down along with Texas imposing new restrictions on other businesses that are linked to the coronavirus resurgence.
Several states, including Texas and Florida, are reconsidering their reopening plan after the resurgence of the virus across several states in the country including West and South. They are the ones to put brakes on reopening and re-implementing the restrictions with rising cases.
Both the Governors were severely criticized with their early decision of reopening the states in the middle of a pandemic. But they reconsidered their decision and now imposing some restrictions to curb the transmission.
Yesterday, the nation broke another single-day record by registering 39,000 new cases, including increased hospitalizations with a possibility of the death toll to rise as well. Now with the emerging cases, the White House is now taking the matter more seriously, having a coronavirus task force taking the public briefings on a regular basis.
On Friday, in a daily press briefing Mike Pence, the Vice President, delivered a statement that “it is almost inarguable that more testing is generating more cases.” He also argued, “To one extent or another, the volume of new cases coming in is a reflection of great success in expanding testing across the country.” However, he also insisted on the fact that the country is making remarkable progress in handling pandemic related issues.
In the midst of the virus resurgence, the vice president made an announcement that he along with the coordinator of the White house coronavirus response, Deborah Brix had decided to travel to Texas on June 28, as well as Florida and Arizona next week to obtain the ground report.
Secretary Halsey Beshears tweeted, “Effective immediately, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is suspending on-premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide.” Though, the businesses are still allowed to sell drinks.
Pence while trying to awake the citizens said, “I think it’s really important that we recognize how important freedom and personal responsibility are to this entire equation.” He also added, “But allowing younger Americans to understand, particularly in the counties that are most impacted, the unique challenges that we are facing is important.”
