The U.S records 45,242 new Covid-19 cases for the biggest single-day increase of pandemic

The U.S recorded its largest single-day increase of the pandemic on Friday by hitting 45,242 number of new coronavirus cases, according to Reuters tally.

Thus, bringing the total number of Covid-19 positive Americans to nearly 2.48 million.

This new record of positive Covid-19 cases has been on a rise from the time when steps and efforts were made amidst a new surge in Covid-19 infections to ease restrictions on businesses.

Now as cases have risen, Governor Greg Abbott has ordered bars to close by mid-day across Texas and said that restaurants should limit their indoor seating capacity to 50%.

Following the same footsteps, Florida state officials have asked bars to immediately stop serving alcohol on their premises.

Moreover, Texas bar owners were shocked and disheartened owing to Abbott’s announcement, who said that the governor had given them little notice of this matter.

The communication gap between the governor and the bar owners was huge to the extent that the owner of a Lubbock beer garden, Mark Martinez learned about this announcement only after friends texted him about the same at around 8 a.m.

Martinez, 44, later gave a statement saying that he had spent thousands of dollars in inventory to get ready for the following weekend, which he could have really made use of and spend for his rent which was due the next week.

In addition to that, the owner of the Triple J Chophouse and Brew Co. in downtown Lubbock, Tish Keller said that they were just getting somewhere to get started with paying their bills.

Thus, taking away 50% of their capacity meant that they wouldn’t have enough business to pay their staff even in the first place, let alone the bills.

Keller is now afraid and confused, not knowing for how long she would have to keep her business open. It is also dreadful for her to try to save her business from ruining twice in one year.
