Trump Considers WHO “A Puppet Of China”

United States President Donald Trump has revived his criticism of the World Health Organization (WHO) for his response to the coronavirus pandemic on Friday and has accused the UN agency of being “a puppet of China” for taking their versions for certain.

Although surprisingly, during an interview, he acknowledged that the Asian giant may not “have released the virus on purpose.”

“They are like a puppet from China. Everything China does is fine,” Trump said, in an interview with Fox News in which he recalled that Beijing contributes “$ 38 million” in funds for the organization, compared to Washington’s “$ 450 million”.

“What the WHO has lost is incredible,” said Trump, who in April suspended funding for the organization and questioned the version given by the Chinese authorities about the origin of the virus in Wuhan city.

The US president, reluctant at first to take containment measures in the face of the emerging health crisis, has maintained that he did “the right thing” by interrupting activities in much of the country to save lives, even if it meant side economic effects.

The US unemployment rate has soared to a record 14.7 percent, after destroying 20.5 million jobs in April, but Trump has insisted on the strength of “the largest economy in the history of the world.”

“Those jobs will come back and will come back very soon,” said the president, who has even predicted that 2021 will be “a phenomenal year” in economic terms.
