When fans came for F9 screenings this summer, they were greeted with a surprise sneak peek of another major impending Universal picture, Jurassic World 3, aka Jurassic World: Dominion.
The teaser “prologue” was previously only viewable at IMAX screenings of the film, but it has now been made available to the general public months later.
The prologue, which Universal says is not included in the completed film, follows the life of dinosaurs before their demise. The effects are stunning, and they remind me of Terrance Malick’s ancient passages of The Tree of Life.
A specific monster from the classic Jurassic Park makes an appearance first before the action moves ahead to the current day when dinosaurs are living and marauding through a drive-in movie theatre.
The takeaway: Dominion will begin a long time after the events of Jurassic Globe: the Fallen Kingdom, wherein dinosaurs were released onto the world and now wander freely.
This is not the first time we have received a glimpse into the world of Dominion. In 2019, Universal made a teaser film depicting a tiny family attempting to survive the invasion of dinosaurs.
Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World, will come back to the saga after filming Jurassic World.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to be launched on June 10, 2022, next summertime. This is a piece of exciting news for all of us as fans because we missed those dinosaurs and wished there was more of it.
