A woman in West Virginia faked her death and tried to hide from the police so as to escape jail time. Her husband too accompanied her in all this. She pretended to get plummeted from a cliff so that everyone thinks that she died.
On Sunday, May 31st, Rodney Wheeler filed a missing report of his wife Julie, who is a mother of two and is 48 years old. He told the police that she fell off an over bridge while they were hiking out together in Grandview State Park and wasn’t found. The officials immediately started a search for her with a National Guard Helicopter to look over the entire area in detail and also sent a diving crew in the waters. Sniffer dogs were also brought to the incident place.
But later on, On Tuesday, Julie was discovered in her closet at her home in Beaver by the police who had gone at her home to pick up some clues of Julie (the woman) that would have helped the in investigation. It was found out that Julie and her husband Rodney had made Julie virtually disappear so that she could avoid her jail time because of a fraud that she had done. In February, Julie was guilty of doing fraud in a healthcare system and was due to be sentenced on June 17. She is facing 10 years of prison and a fine of $250,000 for that.
On Sunday, Julie’s husband and her son of 17 years made a very good plan of faking her death. They put some of her belongings near the cliff so that it looks as if she had fallen for real. They even made up a story in which they told the cops that Julie fell off from here while searching for her earring. Her husband even put up a post on Facebook regarding his wife’s death to make the incident look even more real.
The couple has been charged of planning conspiracy and fraudulent schemes and many more offences. Both of them are behind the bars for this deed of theirs. They are both being held on a $100,000 bond.
